It’s been “Metro” since 1974… I’m not sure when the term “metro” gained its “railway” meaning, but it might well be more recently.

Agreed - in Ashington there’s also Woodhorn Colliery museum that’s now accessible by rail

Not quite - I’m from County Durham, although I have some friends who live in Blyth and Bedlington, so I’m looking forward to being able to visit them by rail next summer!

Although a mad sprint south on Sunday sounds fun, I think I’ll be missing out on the fun… it’s not often that the new station crowd come to my area!
