Out of a very specific sense of curiosity, is that copy machine from an asset pack, or built custom? It's one of the best I've seen.

Don't start by making games. Make concepts and systems first. You'll learn a lot more about gamedev by putting a box or sprite in a single room and coding a wall jump or an attack combo than you will by starting on a full game from the ground up.
Also a lot of us here are friendly. Always ask! :D
