Most likely I won't land a full time job with this hodge podge selection of incomplete and unofficial skills, but its definitely possible to sell an application or to get some low level freelance work to build an actual portfolio. but thats okay, ill be tinkering for life regardless

Im 38, never took a computer class, never graduated college, taught myself spreadsheets while on break at a factory job, and then jumped to python when projects were outgrowing the capabilities of google sheets. Its never too late to find a hobby that gets your blood pumping.

looking back now, using GPT 3.5 and getting some of the sites and apps built that i did is pretty astounding considering I didn't have a clue what I was doing.

Its been a journey, I still don't write much if any code myself but I can read it, understand what its doing, and i do have a decent grasp on some of the high level concepts. there are many routes to learn, based on your specific goals.

I decided to learn how to program a few years ago, well enough to tinker, started with Python. Quickly realized that trying to master syntax wasn't really the best way to achieve my goal so i pivoted to learning general programming and software concepts instead, to effectively guide a coder.

in terms of balance alone, a humanoid is a very sub optimal design. how much time was spent getting them to walk that could have been spent expanding usecases of existing archetypes
