Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

And psychiatric science advanced enough that they're still living despite being Leafs fans?

It would take very little modification to run Seanan McGuire's "Indexing" setting using Jenna Moran's Glitch rules. "Dying of Snow White," "Dying of Wicked Stepsister," etc. Embracing your story gives you a kind of power (there's even a stat for it already), but ticks down the clock to death.

Not that kind of doctorate!

Everyone knows librarians don't play D&D, they stick to less well-known systems like PbtA, and if they MUST play D&D their homebrew rules render it almost unrecognizable to someone who only knows the stock version.

Considering the original lineup of the Frightful Four, I suspect the Wizard had more than a little bit of a bondage fetish. "Sandman will bury you in his body! Medusa will bind you with her living hair! The Trapster will glue you up!"

It's a fun setting, but as an actual game needed more editing. If you don't already know the Cypher system (I did not), there's gaps in the rules presented here that render it kinda unplayable as a standalone. Still, the price is good for just a setting book.

Of the places I've lived (at least a year), two are Great Lakes, one is Midlands, four are Heartland (one of those is on the border with Central Plains, but there were corn fields across the street so I'm gonna call it Heartland), and one is Southern Plains. I did spend 2 months in Tri-State Area.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Apparently the Hatch Act is purely civil, the main threat it carries is that violation is grounds for termination, but not automatic termination. So, if you're just doing what your boss tells you to, you won't get fired for a Hatch violation...yet. It becomes blackmail material, though.

I vaguely recall a fantasy novella with supporting cast including a couple of pigs who were happy to eat any corpses that got generated in the name of hiding evidence. :)

Unfortunately, the most scandalous bit of gossip in my hometown involved my family, and made 9th grade quite unpleasant for me.

I'm disappointed that this was just the first couple dozen pages. I'm interested in the appendices: the cosplay typology because I'm one kind of nerd, and the expedited IRB approval process because I'm another kind of nerd.

A Rutgers professor has been forced to flee the country for his safety, after targeting by a far-right student group that was *checks notes* claiming they felt unsafe.

I'm horrified.
I'm angry.

There's a version of this clogging shelves at the local Ollie's, dunno if it's this specific version though. I think it was ten bucks?

Nothing says, "I am a real live horrible person and not a bot" like dredging up years-old stale fandom conflict to try to start a fight. Bots tend to stick to current flamewars, not ones where the ashes have long since cooled and been mixed into concrete, but real human spite has no time limit.
