Goku beam sucks… it happened to me once and I can’t forget it

being told to Read Several Pages in the middle of a level is just a jarring break of play. I love they wanted to be more narrative, maybe not the way to do it.

having guns that reloaded in an era where reloading was nowhere near being an industry standard is so cool, though. The narrative presentation feels different, though I have to admit it's not much different than Descent's pre-mission briefings, and I think Descent's method was better.

Dumping a bunch of enemies silently around you on both sides in the middle of level 2 is certainly a Choice, but if there's one thing I know about 90's FPS games it's that they LOVE to jumpscare you with enemies at random moments. They love to Kill You unless you already knew it would happen.

Brian, this way too many. Only one person is hitting the ball in the game and we don’t need this many back-ups in case one breaks!!!

Oh yeah I remember that post. Washy’s a good follow

The music is soooo good there! And the size and inaccessibility of the map just added to the exploration for me. It’s a weird case of “I know this sucks but I love it for that”

I miss Grunty Industries a little. The level sucks to play but it was also super interesting for child me to run around and explore, felt like there were endless secret pockets to find

Really gives me a glimpse of the hypothetical world where there are games for the PS5

There's a reason this deck hard loses to a single, well-placed hand trap! Like a number of Hard-Combo Build-A-Board Decks, SHS was just a deck that if you got a step wrong you could kiss the game over.

They made Praetorians and the final boss of Renegades was what? A recycle of the Nightmare of Caitl fight from the dungeon but with none of the raid mechanics! A BIG NORMAL DUDE WITH A NORMAL GUN. You couldn’t even make him the actually interesting new enemy!!!!!!!!

I FORGOT THEY MADE THOSE UGLY-ASS CABAL MECHS WITH FOUR ATTACKS OR WHATEVER TOO FUCK. These are ALSO just normal “Big Enemies” that are rarely the actual bosses!!!!!!!!!

We made this Captain 10 feet tall and his two attacks are shooting you with his normal gun or stomping you if you get close. Periodically he will summon these mech dudes that have five different weapons and blast flames at you. No those are not the boss.

Each of these enemies I listed have several attack patterns, unique behaviours, and subverting weak-spot mechanics. They’re normal guys you fight in the middle of a mission. The actual bosses? Giant normal enemies with normal guns. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY.

I mentioned Brigs, then we also have the Hive Guardians, Tormentors, Subjugators, and now the Cabal Praetorians. They did to Rhulk what they did to Insurrection Prime. Every interesting boss they ever make is just a miniboss regular enemy.
