I say this a lot but this is truly one of the best things that's crossed my path in a good while. Game Watch only had two issues ever (as far as I can tell), and this is the rarer and more expensive of the two.

He also somehow listened to Skrillex and James Blake and channeled *that* into Accidental Ridge Racer in 2013, which confuses the hell out of me (those crystal stabs and sine arpeggios at 2:38 make me go insane for painfully obvious reasons)

Todd Rundgren is actually my favorite culprit in both of these things, specifically because of his dabblings in Lightwave, his creation of Patronet and his release of No World Order in the early-mid 90s, which also had a full-on CD-i game for it -- he's the platonic ideal of Cyberdelia Boomer

Arguably Bowie's Boomer Cyberdelia was less multimedia and more aesthetic, spreading across 1.Outside and Earthling's Enhanced "Earthling In The City" CD, but his Accidental Ridge Racer is definitively in Earthling, specifically in Dead Man Walking (which I love)

this era of bowie makes me think of two subgenres that I've coined for my own use:
-Boomer Cyberdelia (boomer musicians get really into CD-ROMs, Mondo 2000 and the web)
-Accidental Ridge Racer (boomer musicians get really into trance but use their old chord sensibilities so it comes out like VGM)

god same like...the original hardware is honestly important on an archival level and the color classic is kinda mid design-wise (I have a soft spot for it but I still prefer the 550 chassis and even moreso the Performa 5200)
