RIP Claus Offe, who first developed the structural theory of the state’s dependence on capitalist investment later made famous by Fred Block

RIP Claus Offe 😔 He wrote a lot but this is by far one of the best texts written about trade unions, their structural position and limitations. www.hwiesenthal.de/publik/hw/2l...

‘even teachers of IL who are interested in teaching “black letter” law and have no particular political commitment to the cause of Palestinian freedom may face allegations of antisemitism on account of teaching the field’s most authoritative court’s rulings on self-determination or genocide’

I wrote a short piece on definitions that conflate anti/semitism with (anti)-Zionism and the dangers that their adoption poses specifically for international lawyers, including for our Palestinian colleagues and students: voelkerrechtsblog.org/defining-awa...

March for Palestine rally over Brisbane's Victoria Bridge is absolutely huge. Thank you to all Australians in Brisbane & around the country marching today against Israel’s genocide. Anyone not standing with Palestine at this point in time is clearly on the fringe. #FreePalestine

I think it’s safe to say: this is the biggest pro-Palestine rally that this city has ever seen.

Such an incredible vibe at the Brisbane/Meanjin protest for Palestine. Overwhelmingly young, incredibly diverse. The crowd was the face of modern Australia. Politicians take note.

The anti-genocide movement has been driven by below: activists rather than bureaucrats, people rather than NGOs, students rather than professors, etc. Almost without exception, the top echelons of society have tried to stop the protests, not the genocide.

from p. 2: "Universities are not-for-profit. Every dollar they make* is reinvested back into teaching and research activities..."

*Apart, that is, from the hundreds of thousands/millions of dollars that line the silk pockets of all the non-teaching, non-researching uni execs
