No worries! Looking forward to a longer SD next Sunday, if you're up for it!

Hope you're feeling better, Dave!

Having just finished Bill Janovitz's book on The Cars, I'm inclined to say the works of Ric Ocasek. But definitely Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and Ender's Game, for starters.

This is wonderful! Thank you to both of you; you clearly had a lot of fun making it. There is nothing so contagious as laughter!

Thanks! Currently listening to you on a different player, though, so my Monday morning is going well.

New episode isn't showing up on Pocket Casts yet. 😢

Have been dreading this day for years...

I dunno. If they have to count to five they might think it's communism...

Irrelevant. How many windfarms or solar generator farms have melted down and irradiated the environment to a 50 mile radius in that time?

An AI stat so completely worthless. We have had two catastrophic accidents in the 80 years since 1945, not including Three Mile Island. That's 1 in 40.

Dude, doing 16 mph over the limit is a violation of the social contract. It's a voluntary tax on the inattentive and/or entitled.

We have universal enfranchisement in Australia. Contrary to popular opinion, it isn't compulsory to vote, but is compulsory for the electoral system to get a ballot paper into your hand. What you do with it is up to you. It means we don't have systemic voter suppression.

That's cute! Keep telling yourself that Chernobyl was human error and therefore nuclear is safe, Bryan.
May 28, 2025 at 1:28 AM
From the 70s? Think you'll find that Chernobyl was in the 80s and Fukushima in 2011. There is no such thing as nuclear power that is modern, or safe, or clean.

If "Shortnin' Bread" is going to be an Easter egg in all future episodes, I, for one, am here for it.

There is always the chance of a good independent. One had a good showing in 2022, but not this time.
May 10, 2025 at 2:03 AM
Totally agree, but living in one of the safest National seats in the country, I'd dispute the idea that everyone's vote matters. Certainly feels like mine doesn't. I've always voted below the line in the senate to make the most of that ballot though.

Something distinctly Australian...

Hope they die in my electorate. 65.5% TPP at the moment.
