they’re very well written, extremely real nd rep especially them all working better at night and having horrible sleep schedules... it’s cool seeing them accommodate each other i haven’t seen many other characters like them

i feel bad for ena.. like i get that mafuyu’s whole arc is gonna be about her shitty mom so they need to build that up for the story to work but it feels like ena’s awful dad will be taken way less seriously despite the things he’s said also deeply affecting and upsetting her

but then ena tells them that her dad straight up said she didn’t have any talent and they don’t even rly react to that?? i don’t like that his actions are just brushed off as “concern for her but not expressed in the best way,” it feels like a weird double standard

to be clear i do think the latter sentiment is fucked up and i understand what they were trying to get at there (mafuyu’s mom is controlling, she was telling her to pick her friends based on who does well in school)

like i think it’s a bit unrealistic that mizuki was able to gather that mafuyu’s mom is abusive just from overhearing her say “make sure you value your time and say no to something if it’s too inconvenient“ and “you should spend time with ppl who challenge you instead of only ppl who need your help”

i hadn’t watched utena before my first watch but having seen it now? it’s SO utena

of course there are much worse and larger atrocities going on rn but it is all connected and one of the main reasons this is happening is to disrupt political communication, organizing, solidarity, spreading info/awareness—just wasting our time with useless soulless ai content and ads instead

it’s all intentional, it’s all by design and it’s so fucking infuriating!! i’m someone who cares a lot about archival, keeping records, documenting history and the scale of what’s happening to the internet rn and things being actively destroyed or retroactively altered by AI is so devastating

like the loss of data (deletion, link rot, shit like copyright/bans/censorship), the loss of information sharing and political connection, the loss of art and culture as everything is streamlined into hyperpersonalized ai-dominated addictive algorithms and people are forced off of platforms

and pretty much all of the art i’ve seen that’s really inspired me and defined my tastes i would’ve never found w/o social media… i don’t think the internet is gonna die completely or whatever but the scale of loss from these platforms being rendered unusable is pretty awful

everyone’s talking about getting offline and moving to irl communities but that’s actually not good bc i’ve spent my whole life in my irl community and it kind of sucks ass 😃 and the only way i’ve really found cool people irl besides school is through the internet like thru events apps mutuals etc

god this sucks so much everyone’s being split up there’s no big central usable social media that everyone’s on anymore so we’ll all miss out on seeing so much
