It was kind of a controversy earlier this year but yeah, twitch wants more money for themselves as if it wasn't already enough. At the end of the day, you can still sub to your favorite streamer to help them out without having any ads :)

It can be irritating for sure, but you can use purpletv or other clients to avoid ads and they have options for other stuffs as well
