NEW! What a pleasure to work with folks who are implementing the MLRP in California on this article, especially lead author Gopal Penny! It's critical that we come up with more creative solutions to protect people, agriculture, and the environment in a drying world.

I deleted my previous post bc it had a news headline that has now thankfully been taken down for being false.

All I will say (if you saw it) is that I have no idea what’s going on behind closed doors in the Colorado River negotiations, and agreeing to conserve does not equal taking cuts!

Maybe I’m being optimistic, but is CO is strategically using the compact call threat to get political cover/constituent support for giving up some water in a collaborative proposal, esp. w/ the plan to do more public engagement? 👀👀

We integrate cognitive science, hydrology, & policy design to investigate how cognitive & institutional constraints influence information feedback processes in urban water coupled infrastructure systems during the development of climate-adaptive policies. Grateful for such a cool & smart team!!

Deep in the Nevada desert, a huge lithium mine could fuel electric vehicles and help slow global warming. But conservationists say it would drive an endangered wildflower to extinction.

I visited Rhyolite Ridge and wrestled with a high-stakes climate dilemma: www.latimes.com/environment/...
Commentary: A climate-saving lithium mine could doom an endangered desert flower
The dilemma at Nevada's Rhyolite Ridge offers a preview of the hard choices ahead.

We do not talk enough about groundwater, the quiet water crisis playing out across the globe.

“Groundwater is the most precious natural resource in the dry parts of the world," said ASU's Jay Famiglietti. “And it is probably the least protected.” www.westernwaternotes.com/p/q-and-a-gr...

Basing Powell releases on some rolling average of the river's flow sounds familiar (from a lot of the scoping comments!).
