⚠️The EUDR could help keep products fuelling the destruction of the Amazon and Indigenous rights violations off European shelves.

Policymakers must stand firm and enforce the law with no further delays or changes. ✊

This is not the first time cattle laundered from illegal ranches have reached EU consumers.

👜 Earlier this year, our investigation traced Coach's leather supply chain to cattle raised inside the Apyterewa Indigenous Territory in the Amazon.

🚨 Brussels is backtracking - again!

@ec.europa.eu seeks another delay to the #EUDR, and every second means more forest lost to satisfy European consumption.

The EU Parliament & Council MUST reject this proposal and implement the law by the end of 2025.

Meanwhile the #EUDR – which can rid EU supply chains of dirty soy – is under threat once again

EU policymakers should be focused on implementing the law, not picking it to pieces at the demand of industry lobbyists

Secret Ingredient: A year of inaction⚠️

In September 2024, our investigation linked soy used in feed for chicken sold by McDonald’s and Europe’s leading supermarkets to deforestation, land grabbing, corruption and rights abuses in Brazil’s Cerrado.

So, what's happened since?

❓Got questions about the EU Deforestation Regulation❓

Our Policy Lead was part of an informative webinar for journalists - hosted by @mongabay.com - discussing why the #EUDR is important, how it will be enforced and what journalists should consider when covering recent attacks on the law.

⚠️ But progress is unsteady and the Cerrado's future is far from guaranteed.

Last year, it lost more land to deforestation than any other biome in Brazil.

Recent data shows that from August 2024 to July 2025, deforestation rates dropped for the first time in 4 years - by over a fifth.

Yesterday, Brazil's environment authority took action to crack down on illegal cattle ranching - the same day our report revealed US imports of Brazilian beef are increasingly driving deforestation.
