The #YorkshireWolds at their glorious autumnal best today. Heart & soul nourished, feet tired 🍁☀️🧡
Countryside scene: sun-kissed trees with vivid orange and yellow leaves to the left, green fields and bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds to the right. Countryside scene: sun-kissed rolling chalk grassland in muted greens, with the hedges and trees, in the centre is a tall architectural tree with no leaves. All under a bright blue sky with wispy white and grey clouds. Countryside scene: sun-kissed trees with vivid orange, yellow & lime-coloured leaves to the left, hedges to the right, a track down the centre covered in crisp orange leaves, and bright blue sky above.

💚 There are far fewer of us than there used to be, and of course we have Welsh & Scottish counterparts.

One year I will be brave and make time to take part myself, but not this year.
Still, I really love following the #ArchInk posts, so thank you for running it again! ✏️💖

Thank you - I may well do a little sleuthing! The one you have shared looks lovely

Oh, how interesting! Thanks for replying.
Were over 40 adapted in 2001 for landscape art then? I really must look this up and head out for a stomp!

Well that settles tonight’s bedtime re-read 😢
#JaneGoodall
Colour photo of a book (graphic novel):
Primates: The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey and Birute Galdikas.
Written by Jim Ottavaviani and illustrated by comics artist Maris Wicks.

It has a green cover showing cartoon drawings of a procession of three women and three wild primates (a chimpanzee, a mountain gorilla, and an orangutan) Page 18 of a colour cartoon/graphic novel.
Four image boxes each show a young blond woman (Jane Goodall) working outdoors, each with different weather conditions. The text reads:
Many scientists did feel threatened by me, though, for oh-so-many reasons - | First, my sponsor, Louis, was controversial. Second, I didn’t look like most of them. | And I had no academic credentials. | Habituating animals to human presence also wasn’t common. | And worst of all, I started naming the chimps.

Oh how glorious!
I am intrigued to know whether there is any on-site info so that those passing know it is a combo of historic structure + lovely ‘new’ art?

Thank you! Hmmm, the issue of keeping them clean hadn’t occurred to me - that is useful!

Where this is, please?
I love this type of subtle but effective on-site interpretation.
I have seen it used well several times for recreating landscapes or buildings, but never on water. Great example!

Hmm, I doubt ‘with healthy respect and a robust risk assessment’ would quite wow your crowd…
In my work, the truth is probably ‘with my trouser hems tucked into my socks’ (ticks 🚫)!

What a great project!
If/when the Bishop Auckland entries get input, there is quite a bit of relevant detail on past & present sports sites within our (HE’s) detailed Historic Area Assessment report:

This is awesome! It would be nice & logical if the National Archives hosted the digital transcription for free study in their online collection? Or maybe speak to the Polar Research Institute / Museum in Cambridge?
