Is it really a good proposition to ask your audience, most of whom are ingrained in your lore, to just put up with Spider-Man showing up? Would it not be better to, I dunno, have a new format from a gameplay perspective?

Part of me wonders if one of the problems here is that UB as a prospect appeals more to the Commander audience - and the smaller sets just don't get those decks. Like, you could have made several Avatar decks but they aren't doing it - nobody wants this stuff in standard

These sets are designed at minimum two years before release, sometimes 3, so the real culprit here is probably the UB Secret Lairs that did really well

Universes Beyond is like, fine, IF they get the basic stuff right, which they've just not been doing recently. Agree with @ckunzelman.bsky.social that Spider-Man is a real low point - doesn't feel at all special, barely matters and it'll be forgotten about when Avatar releases

I spent 31 of the last 40 or so hours getting home from Japan, but before I left, I previewed My Hero Academia: All's Justice for @ign.com. I enjoyed being in the world and doing hero stuff, even if that meant helping a little girl find her cat, because being a hero isn't just about punching people.
