The government cannot afford to make the same mistakes in the Spending Review as they did with the Budget: missing opportunities and making self-defeating decisions.

Leaving the social care sector in crisis is a false economy that will only put people at risk and damage the public finances.

Today we remember those who've lost their lives, and commit to ending deaths by AIDS.

We must:
☑️ Ensure everyone has access to HIV prevention and treatment.
☑️:End stigma and discrimination around HIV.
☑️:Make testing the norm.

#EastRenfrewshire Council say they have explored other options to raise funds but with a 'heavy heart' are taking the decision to charge vulnerable people for care services. Yet vanity projects like a new £56m leisure centre are going ahead 🤔 No wonder people feel let down

"OBR figures suggest that the increase in NICs will cost more to social care providers than the money that the government has announced for that sector in the budget."

Unpaid carers already contribute so much. We should be supporting them. And yet in many council areas proposals to charge for care will only see unpaid carers assume even more responsibilities. We need a holistic approach to support our communities especially those needing and those proving care 🙏
These findings show just how much carers contribute to our society, but also how hard it is for carers to get the support they need.

The government now needs to fully recognise the critical role carers play and end the years of neglect under the Conservatives.

Disappointed to hear that #EastRenfrewshire Council are looking to introduce charges to non-residential care targeting the most vulnerable in our community. At the same time, the Council intends to pursue a new leisure facility development, investing £56m.
