I had no idea how much anger I could feel until I found my little brother. Now, I understand what was stolen from us. Society shames adoptees for feeling angry. If you aren't angry about systemic child abuse, corruption, and violations of human rights, maybe it's time to ask why. #adoption 🥚

Fighting for truth had left me exhausted, depressed, financially strained, and exiled from most of my adoptive family. Would I do it again if given the choice? 💯 YES. Every damn time.

I’m tired. I’m heartbroken 💔. Some days grief feels like too much to carry. But then I think of you, the #adopteevoices 🥚 who remind me that love, truth, and belonging are ours to live. We hold one another through the hurt, the healing, and defiant hope ❤️‍🩹.

🥚 Extraordinary apology from South Korean President to 200,000 Koreans sent abroad as adoptees, many of whom “discovered their records were falsified to portray them as abandoned orphans, while others were carelessly removed, or even stolen, from their birth families” 1/3

📚 In "Why Was I Adopted?," there's a picture of children in a pet store window. It's been a while, but I think I remember a child on a leash. Not like the cute kind with the monkey backpack because the kid is a runner. Pretty sure it was a dog collar 🐶🐱👶🏻. Anyone else remember this book?

I enjoy disorganized attachment, and that’s exactly the problem 🎢

In my experience, there was no "socondarily." If society is cool with telling me I was unwanted/ would have been thrown in a dumpster/ would have been a prostitute without adoption, then imagine how much more horrible people have been to my mother.

It's the signature line that angers me: "I swear under penalty of perjury that the information is true and correct." The threat of fines and imprisonment for failing to maintain socially accepted lies feels coercive.

After filming this documentary, I became 1 of 56 resolved cases in Korea's TRC #adoption investigation, confirming human rights violations. 311 remain unresolved. Thanks @channelnewsasia.bsky.social for telling our stories 🥚.

I hate the phrase "decision to abandon a baby." It's not a decision if there are no other choices.

That's my little brother and me. We found each other 2 yrs ago through DNA testing. I know it's difficult for him to talk about adoption. I'm so proud of him for being courageous and telling his story 🥹. Documentary airs in Asia on Aug 30 and will be available on the CNA YouTube channel afterward

I will never get to teach my little brother how to talk, to read, to do all the little things older siblings do for the younger ones. Those moments are irreplaceable.
Chase Malmgren and Mary Bowers, separated siblings who would find each other anywhere in spite of a system and society that would have been perfectly fine with them never knowing the other even existed

The hardest part of grieving is that adoptees are told we should "be grateful". "Be grateful you were adopted." "Be grateful you found your family." My heart and families are broken and society tells me I should be buying party balloons 💔. That's the most devastating part for me.
