I've been reading The Source of Self-Regard, by Toni Morrison and this is the first sentence. I am about halfway through, but I am stuck again by the intelligence, eloquence and depth of this woman. It's truly remarkable work, I cannot recommend it enough.

I know that Frog & Toad have become queer icons, but I feel like I should make a pitch for Ratty, Badger & Mole. I mean helping a delusional friend, demolish said friend's house in an attempt to get it back for them, meeting fae & a whole lot of coziness in between. Just go read Wind In the Willows.
