I know I've posted about City O'City before but just look at this BBQ Mac and Cheese wrap, full of carbs in all their glory.

Sometimes what you need is a cheeseburger and one of my favorite places to get one endlessly customized is The Cherry Cricket. I always get mine with crispy onions and American cheese. Favorite burger toppings?

Mezcaleria Alma was delightful. A self-proclaimed love letter to Mexico City, the restaurant features shareable small plates and an impressive mezcal list. Now we know why it was so hard to get a reservation! www.mezcaleriaalma.com

Started the new year by cooking something new and (perhaps) manifesting a year of delicious food experiences. Blackberry and beet soup with walnut relish and sour cream; warm duck and wild rice salad both from Diana Henry's book Roast Figs, Sugar Snow

This little monster woke me up at 1AM and then had the audacity to spend the entire day sleeping. She's 16 though, so she gets to do what she wants.

A black bean and pumpkin soup is never going to look glamorous, but it tasted delicious.

Union Lodge is one of my favorite places for classic cocktails. It's a small place but always worth the wait.

Roasted winter squash and chickpeas spiced with garam masala, topped with red onion, yogurt, and cilantro. Budget friendly and cozy.

The High Lonesome. Atmospheric dive in the Highlands. Play some pool or have an unexpected cocktail for a low key spot: bandoeng 22 and amaretto.

Sadly, I never made it to Noble Riot, but I'm intrigued by this concept. www.westword.com/food-drink/p...

Things you could be doing - going to Satchel's on 6th, sitting outside as the light wanes and a chill settles in the air, eating warm fig salad, fried stuffed summer squash blossoms, and rabbit confit. (I mean, you could eat inside, but what's the fun in that?)

Made Diana Henry's "i can never resist pumpkins" menu today. Here's the Tuscan grape bread & Italian cheeses. It was delightful.

This salsiccia pizza, Caesar salad, and fig sour from Osteria Marco were exactly what we needed after a Friday night volunteer shift at the Great American Beer Festival.

I mostly share food, but how can I not share these beautiful Fall flowers?

The biggest lie I tell myself - you dont need to label those leftovers, you'll remember when you cooked them.

Things to do: take a walk down the newly renovated 16th St, enjoy a Black Widow cocktail and a bite to eat at Bezel, go see CO Ballet's production of Dracula, finally feel like Fall.
