My kids are white kids. And I know they have privilege. I know I have privilege as a white woman. Pretending it's not true (because it is an ugly truth) doesn't help anything.
It *shouldn't* matter, but it does.

We make a contract with the people who sign up. It's dishonorable to break a contract.

My grandma on my dad's side. :( and my grandpa wasn't a bad man. But she was a city girl stuck in the middle of nowhere ND with nothing to do. Once her kids were grown, it was unbearable.

Which only worked when a married couple could pay for housing, car, food, etc. on one income. Not even factoring in daycare, this is not realistic in large swaths of America.
