Outside the Whipple building in Minneapolis—

Feds just emerged and unleashed pepper spray on demonstrators for approaching the driveway, sprayed one man directly in the face repeatedly. Pepper balls.

Air is toxic, there were children out here in strollers. Reporters caught unprepared.

We live in a country where the media is focused more on who a Democratic mayoral candidate defines as his ‘aunt’ than on the DHS Twitter account putting out white nationalist propaganda and replying to Nazis online.

Articles like this drive me insane. The amount of tokens being used is going up because they explicitly made it so that models use more tokens. This is the tech section of a globally-renown newspaper and it's an argument that's unmoored from reality or meaning.

Huntington Beach, CA - As Patriot Front, Ryan Sanchez and Neo-Nazi groups are leaving they began to pummel one man in a leather jacket, who told me he was there to mourn Kirk but “hated Nazis.”

Attackers include members of the GDL and Robert Wheldon.

My prevailing suspicion right now is that the majority of *all* AI compute demand, worldwide, is Microsoft, Amazon, and Google (at a stretch), with most of that going toward either OpenAI or Anthropic. I do not think robust demand exists outside these two companies. If I am right that is very bad.

NEW: As part of my effort to track Elon Musk's influence in Texas, I asked for his emails with Gov. Greg Abbott for the last several months.

Abbott's office rejected my request, saying the records are too "intimate and embarrassing" to release. www.kut.org/politics/202... #txlege
Gov. Greg Abbott says emails with Elon Musk are too ‘intimate and embarrassing’ to make public
When we asked for the emails, the governor’s office said some of the correspondence with the billionaire and his companies contains “intimate” information that isn’t of “legitimate concern to the publ...

Here's part 2 of this week's Better Offline. I make a plea to the tech media - to stop automatically accepting what the tech executives have to say, and to admit that these people sound really, really stupid, even if they use long words.

Ever notice how “return to office” efforts never provide real data around productivity? That’s because it isn’t about productivity, it’s about control.

Workplace raids have begun—none of these people were rapists or criminals.

Even if you’re not a US citizen, you still have due process in this country. 3 workers in Newark were taken into custody by ICE w/out a warrant. One, a veteran, endured the humiliation of having his military docs questioned.
