Dedicated QB coach is NOT relatively new. Usually the OC coaches a position group, and a lot of times that is the QB, but dedicated QB coaches go back to at least the 80's. I have all of Purdue's staffs in a spreadsheet, and they had dedicated qb coaches most of the 80s and under Tiller.
