Our next meeting is this Thursday, the 1st of May, when Kevin Gordon will give a talk on 'Eastbourne Ancestors'.
His talk revolves around the people buried & commemorated at the Parish Church of St Mary's. These vary from the rich & (in their time) famous, military men and ordinary working people.

Another great piece of research by Julia, one of our volunteers.
She recently came across the grave of Charles Elmé Francatelli (1805-1856) known as 'The Galloping Gourmet!' He was once chef to Queen Victoria at Buckingham Palace.

The next meeting of Family Roots is on Thursday 3rd April. After a very quick AGM, Warwick Davies, local historian, will be our speaker on 'A Spoonful of Victorian Medicine'. Warwick will be comparing Victorian primary & secondary care with the healthcare available today.
