Every day my blood pressure keeps going up. I have to find ways to keep it down. Going on bird walks with my camera helps a lot. Here's a few from today with a white squirrel thrown in just because they're so damn cute.

It's in the 60's here today but I much prefer the icy weather we had last week. This is Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah National Forest after a few days in the teens.

One more bird for your enjoyment. The red bellied woodpecker is a frequent visitor and he's just super cool looking. I managed to follow him to some nearby trees. His arrival daily makes me happy in these dark times.

Time for a bird photo for a break from nonstop depressing politics and destruction. Pileated woodpeckers are not uncommon in these parts but I've never seen one at a bird feeder that didn't include suet. After he showed up, I bought a suet feeder, put it up and he's not been back. 🤷

Although I live close to one of the biggest populations of white squirrels in the country, we don't often see them in our yard. The new bird feeders are definitely attracting this adorable wildlife!

A pretty guy visiting my new bird feeder. I've had at least 12 different bird species stopping by on the regular and it's been a delight to watch them. Takes my mind off the shit show that is my country today. At least for a minute or two.

Within 24 hours of putting up my new feeders, the birds have enthusiastically arrived. Watching them takes me away from phone scrolling, certainly a healthier pastime.

It's been a rough autumn here in the Blue Ridge Mountains after Helene devastated our area. Bell Park just opened and offered us a new place to hike while many of our trails get cleared. This is the Green River in Saluda, NC.

I made all these needle felted gnomes last year and sold them all. I have yet to get my needles out this year.
