I read; knit, spin, dye & make things with fibre and textiles and mixed media; write poetry, memoir, short stories and micro fic and have ideas for longer pieces; do other art stuff; strum a ukulele from time to time.
Next year I'm going to do as a friend is doing and, instead of crocheted squares I’ll crochet a row for each book I read, colour coded by genre. It'll be simpler.

Here ends my TED talk!

The day before yesterday I finished the 77th book. Several ARE audiobooks, but I consider that a valid form of reading. All the books are listed in the attached Pinterest link.

I've completed the first 46 crocheted squares (two are not yet in the photo) and started to connect them.

Not an odd number, but I was ok with that considering I'd be reading more books.

By mid November I was again ahead of schedule and figured that, if some of the books were a bit shorter, I could MAYBE make it to 77 books - back to the odd numbers.

I figured that if I kept going at that pace I could reach 63 books by the end of the year which would give me a 7x9 square blanket. I like odd numbers!

By October I realised I was ahead of schedule. I figured I could read an extra seven books, giving me a 7x10 square blanket.

I decided that I'd give this a go.

I started the year off ok. By the middle of the year I'd read 30 books, despite travelling for a month and not having a lot of time to read during the trip. Not many, but much more than I'd read in the past.

And, being an old fuddy-duddy, I much preferred reading printed articles and books, rather than on a screen. I still do.
At the beginning of this year I found out about book blankets - blankets made from crocheted granny squares, each representing the cover of a book.

It took me ages to read books that, formerly, I would have finished in a day or two.
I was concerned, when I enrolled in an MA in 2019, that my slow reading would cause a problem. It was not as bad as I feared, but I was still slower than I had been.

Your daily vignettes, and Over London, have kept me sane for the second half of this year, which is when I discovered you and started to follow you. Thank you. Merry Whatever and Happy Forever to you and yours.

It’s a heinous crime to skimp on butter.

Wow - it's a great place for runners ... and for photographers.

I can relate. We left our polycrub ( we live in the Outer Hebrides now) for a month not long after our first planting. A friend cared for it while we were away, but the vegetables didn't get the care I would have given them. Some didn't thrive. I blame their deprived childhood.

Butter. Margarine is only one molecule away from plastic. Other dairy-free alternatives exist for vegans and dairy intolerant folk.

I love the word ‘squoodly’. It’s so descriptive 😁

Can you find another Ballarat buddy Victory supporter to go with?

Yes, I find myself, when out and about, trying to compose little vignettes a la George Penney. ❤️

‘Upmost’? Surely the (supposedly professional) writer meant ‘utmost’.

Perhaps not a typo, but more a play on words - rap and hiphop relating to types of music?

I think it sounds revolting. But then, I never liked scraping the bowl when cakes were made. It’s something to do with the texture of the sugar. I don’t like sugar on cereal, either.

Several unprovoked bites from small, 'cuddly', 'but they're so friendly' small, pampered dogs. That's the damage.
