I'm not in the US, but I am a teacher and teaching history this year. Latest chapter is on the French Revolution and how the abusive system in place inspired a guy named Montesquieu who came up with the idea to separate the government into three branches as a check against abuse of power.

About 20 years ago I first read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and loved the series to the degree that I made rules as to where I could read them, because otherwise I wouldn't get anything done.

Then there was a gap between publications and now I've several unread books. I'm diving back in.

So I teach EFL and today I taught a bunch of twelve-year-olds about the present simple and essentially that if you add the s at the wrong time, your English will sound like you're Gollum from LotR. (I.e. we wants the fishes, Precious!)

Several of them got the reference 💪🏻

Went for a walk thinking I had bundled up sufficiently. Reader, I was wrong.
Tried to tough it out, realised that was just stupid, told myself "this is just stupid" and went back home. I feel good about this decision.

So I usually read at least 4 books at a time: a paper one on the couch, another at school, an ebook in bed and audio during chores and such. Oh the whole it works for me, except I managed to finish three out of four books pretty much on the same day.

I'm having a bit of choice paralysis.

Currently reading Flowers for Algernon and it just really isn't my cup of tea. I'm still kinda curious to see how it will end, but I was relieved to see I'm at 76% and only have a quarter to go. Don't want to DNF this late in the book, but ugh...

Ah yes, that constant annoyance of reading a book where a character has a name that you don't quite know how to pronounce.

In this case an Elf born somewhere in the British Isles whose been placed outside of time for about a thousand years.
Annoyed but will persevere!

Missed a social media outlet that is word focused, so here we go.

Storygraph tells me I'm currently reading 10 books at a time and what I will be continuing to read in a moment is Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. That makes three books I've read in today and three different formats.
