It's been a year since we lost Munchkin, who was almost 20 years old(!) when we said goodbye to her. In the mornings I still sometimes think I see her toddling around downstairs out of the corner of my eye - I will gladly accept a tiny old lady cat ghost 🖤

Saw people sharing posts by the "Smartphone Free Childhood movement" elsewhere and wow apparently they've put this gormless AI art (so diverse, too!) on billboards - plus ironically it was born out of a WhatsApp group. They eventually posted a statement in a comment and it sucks, of course

We used a mix of real humans and Al on this simply to help bring a really tricky creative idea to life on a zero budget and a very tight timeline. An illustrator was involved, as were lots of ridiculously talented creative people, but this concept needed a very specific execution to land the message. Al can be a useful tool, and we're comfortable using it thoughtfully as part of the process. On the budget side... all billboard space has been generously donated by JCDecaux, so the whole thing is free. We're a tiny team trying to make as much impact as possible with very little money. We get that people have strong feelings about Al, just like some feel strongly about us being on Meta-owned platforms. But our goal is always the same: to reach as many people as we can with this message. We'll always use tech carefully and in service of the movement. We're not anti-tech; we're pro-childhood.
