the week is cold again.
that is, these days feel
as if the sun of days ago
is gone, as if birds
on that lake there—
who know not to mark
time, only light—have
brought another winter
with their spring arrival
from a northplace
where dark flame
waves its too-hotness
towards this summer-
melting isle.
