I made a starter pack for KS5 maths (teachers, posters, and other people involved in it)
Most of the starter packs I've seen for maths teachers have been for all age groups, so this one is aimed towards sixth form (16-19 ish)
Please let me know if you'd like adding (or removing)!

I think it makes sense to introduce it all in year 1, as it's not really any extra effort to mention it

It's brilliant, but there are no answers. We've asked for them many times, but apparently they have no intention of producing any 🙄😅

Do you have the AQA teaching guidance? I'm not sure if it's on the main website, but it has loads of examples of what is tested for each topic, at AS and at A Level: wykecollege-my.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/person...

Yes. Just (x + a) at AS level, (ax + b) at A Level

I love this 😍 Is there a printable version somewhere that I can use, please?

Anthony Scaramucci defines political careers in a similar way... one Scaramucci is about 11 days (the length of time he lasted as Trump's director of comms) 😆

😆
What's purple, commutes, and is worshipped by a small number of people?

A finitely venerated abelian grape.

(from somewhere in the depths of my memory from university 20-odd years ago!)

Funnily enough, a colleague sent me this exact video yesterday! (I watched the first bit, I should find some time to watch the rest...)

Ahh, I understand, thanks! 😊

Oh, really? A lot of our students do computer science, so may be interested to know that!

I'm not quite sure I follow, could you give an example of which areas of maths? Also not sure what you mean by the periodic table...

I muttered something about symmetries and chemistry/molecules/crystals, but would love to know some other applications of group theory!

In #MathsToday my Y2 further maths students were introduced to group theory. They were outraged by the idea of the trivial subgroup (consisting of just the identity element)... "What's the point of that?!", they asked indignantly 😅
They also wanted some real world uses of group theory - any ideas?

Went for a run. Added a bit extra on to the usual route to round up the distance. Accidentally ended up drawing a fat dalek... 🏃‍♀️
#Edurunners
A screenshot of a run map on Strava. It is vaguely dalek shaped, with a wide back end.

Ooh, that is very nice and shiny, but I'm quite taken by the idea of all my answers printing off onto a little roll of paper as I write them on the board 🤣

I was looking up Casio calculator webinars on my phone earlier, so obviously I'm now getting loads of sponsored ads for all their other products.

I'm really tempted to get one of these and just start using it in lessons 🤣 #ALevelMaths #MathsToday

I haven't seen a lot of films, and I don't really consider it weird until people say "Really?? You've never seen [popular film]??"
Like, all of the original Star Wars films. Die Hard. Any of The Matrix films. 90% of the Marvel universe.

I'm not avoiding them on purpose, I've just never seen them 😅
ecrmaths.bsky.social
I'm not sure if I have access to that - we're AQA, but I would imagine the general correlation is similar for different boards (and a lot of our students did Edexcel for GCSE)

This is very interesting data. Do you know whether a similar table exists for further maths?
