It's not a 'new master-planned city', but the new governance could lead to a redefinition of New York as a city. Viewing the city as adaptive will allow New York to start prioritising the working people, and enforce systemic change; this should be at the core of new master-planned cities.

The ODisha cabinet made the decision as Bhubaneswar (like many Indian cities) is facing increasing pressures from urban migration and rapid population growth. The state is attempting to avoid the danger of haphazard urban expansion. An impactful new city plan for the people, not the state.

China is making sure it dominates in renewable energy and sustainable development globally. However, there's heavy and increasing pollution in the area, especially since most important factories in Beijing were relocated to Tianjin since 2008. Prevalence of certain cancers 3x higher than Singapore.

the word 'technology'. MVRDV wants to fuse technology with nature, urban with rural, and modernity with tradition. These 'futuristic' cities are exactly what they say - in the future. Nothing has been constructed since the Sky Valley was announced, and the future of the city remains unknown.

cities near international ports will likely allow the city to use cranes, shipyards, docks and tugs to store and transport materials. With the right investment and planning, Oceanix will benefit hugely from the gigantic Busan Port.

In September this year, seven trucks that were transporting illegally mined coal were seized by Indonesian authorities, coming from one of 150 abandoned coal mining pits within the Nusantara area taken over by illegal miners. These illegal mines are a big threat to Nusantara and its sustainability.

Prospera, a charter city, expected to be separated and protected from the political problems and complexities of Honduras. Yet all that divides Prospera from Honduras is a QR code that security scan, and local residents are currently suing for $11 billion. A city easier in theory than in practice.

I'm pretty sure they are planning on Woven City to be a literal 'living laboratory' - extremely surveyed and data rich. I presume that, as Woven City is Toyota centric, the residents will primarily be Toyota employees and their families. The boundary between work and downtime will be interesting.

Great new city name, but I'm more a fan of how this 'biodiverse' city is three artificial islands built off the shore of Penang Island, connected by a transport network. The buildings built from bamboo and recycled materials sound promising, but how will the foundations/land be built - on habitats?
