Having sent two kids off to college, one of whom has graduated, and reading through all the posts from the new parents in the parents group, I have one piece of wisdom to share: Your kids are adults.

There are lots of other items too! I just thought this one would appeal to some people here.

You don't have to go to Thursday's grand opening to bid. You can pick up items at Agate's office. Or, if you'd rather pick up in Longfellow, I'll pick up an item for you and you can get it from St. Albert.

Agate is opening a new building with apartments and shelter space and are having a silent auction to raise funds.

One of the baskets includes handmade items, a gift card from @moonpalacebooks.bsky.social and signed copies of @naomikritzer.bsky.social's Catnet novels.

Bids close Thursday at 4:45pm.

My parish doesn't post that much, and then mostly about public events. But I asked nicely, and they agreed to write about faith formation. Because I know there are people on here who still feel connected to the church even as they are frustrated by it. And I think St. Albert could be a good fit.

Are you a Catholic parent who wants your children to receive the sacraments but has questions about what they might experience in the classroom? Looking for a program in a welcoming parish that affirms the worth and dignity of all people? We invite you to check out St. Albert the Great. (1/3)

That's awesome! If we either move or resign ourselves to not moving, we might have to give it a shot.

I was coming from work/church. I didn't put on a dress shirt to get tacos.

Ate tacos at the #TacoTourOnLakeStreet then worked my way through the hot sauces and won this fabulous prize

It's a god-damned Minnesota peach! Purchased from the farm by Naomi.

Yes, I know why that's concerning. But also:

Guess what I'm eating...
A peach sits on a wooden table. (But what makes this peach special?)

I have been shamed by @naomikritzer.bsky.social for wearing white shoes after Labor Day.
A white woman with (naturally) blue hair wearing a white jacket, red skirt, and white shoes. She is a Pokemon trainer avatar. A pikipek (basically a woodpecker) floats next to her shoulder as if it should be perched on it but missed. She seems blissfully unaware that it is after Labor Day.

I think I've figured out my dinner plans for tomorrow

I'm going to second Schulers. (This of course only works locally.) The shoes I've gotten there have lasted much longer than the shoes from cheap shoe stores.

In what for us qualifies as being unusually current on pop culture, we watched KPop Demon Hunters
last night. I was of course expecting to love Derpy, and I was delighted by both him and Sussie. Given Derpy's smash success, I was surprised how small a role they played.

Okay, that's just generally bullshit, but also that's particularly bullshit because you have ten days after the due date to display your tags. (I do think you are in fact still required to submit the renewal before the end of the month...but c'mon.)

I joke, but also not really joking, that you can tell you're in a red area when you see a wind farm.

This should be a great concert. Mark is one of our cantors and is a phenomenal vocalist. Kiegan is an excellent cellist. I've not heard Ben play, though I would expect that he is similarly talented, and he will get to play on our superb Steinway.

This Sunday at 1:30 pm, we are hosting a summer blockbuster concert, featuring music from classic and modern films performed by:
Our cantor, Mark Billy, vocals and clarinet
Kiegan Ryan, cello
Ben Wagner, piano
Free will cash donation ($20-$40 suggested) at the door

The sun smells beautiful tonight.
A deep red sun (though in the photo it looks bright white/yellow with a red ring around it) sets above the trees on the opposite shore of a northern Minnesota lake. The strong red color comes from the smoke in the air.

I'm gonna be honest, though. I'm glad that we offer vegetarian hot dogs. But I had one recently, and it was...yeah, I didn't finish it.

Heading to People's Pride. Wearing this hat so that people know I'm an ally.

I decided to go to the Y rather than go biking because it was drizzling when I was about to start my ride, and the map looked like it was going to get worse

So realistically I could have brought an umbrella.
edburkemsp.bsky.social
Thanks, it's a horrifying situation, but I'm not personally all that worried about us.

The one near work periodically gets rid of them and then brings them back later, so hopefully yours will do the same.
