Retired. Used to be relatively important in a large FTSE group in the day but now just …

We had ‘cleaner streets’, park keepers looking after parks, better local services… and er, 35% basic income tax rate and 52% mainstream corporation tax to pay for it.

She was supported by the Labour Party, the Green Party the Social Democrats , Sinn Fein… just not Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael.

Read about Uk water companies, pollution and failures to enforce. It’s not an ‘only in Ireland’ thing

Off season that’s a great and safe ride; Kenmare, Healy Pass, Glengariff back to Kenmare. My gripe is the Wild Atlantic Way branding. ( you were on it on the clip.) It’s successfully turned safe backroads into busy tourist traffic having marketed it as an opportunity to drive along empty roads

The vast majority of twisty tiny roads don’t have much traffic on them in South West Ireland, though it has increased a bit in recent years as tourists follow Google maps religiously and end up in tiny lanes

I ride a lot in South West Ireland and it’s much safer for cycling than this excerpt shows. You are on the N71 and N roads are main arterial routes and so busy traffic is expected. The trouble with this one is you struggle to avoid it on a bike without a big detour if following the SW coast line

This is you

‘Democrats have become the nanny party.
They’re addicted to telling other people what they should believe’

You are actually saying the military should be put on the streets because residents are frightened of crime levels that the stats say doesn’t exist. The essence of nannying.
August 11, 2025 at 6:59 PM
We have exactly the same in the Uk . People frightened by crime that doesn’t exist because people play to their fears. Exactly what you are demonstrating.
August 11, 2025 at 6:49 PM
That’s fair enough. EF are a great team.
August 7, 2025 at 6:28 PM
Which is great. My parents are Irish so like Ben I am both British and Irish . Ben was born and raised in England. He has Irish roots , like me. . But we are not American
August 7, 2025 at 6:15 PM
But not American. Is Carapaz American or someone from Ecuador riding for an American team
August 7, 2025 at 4:33 PM
In what way is a guy with Irish roots from Dudley with a broad Black Country accent an American?

So you think it right that the journalists ambush an individual who you think is innocent at the biggest moment of his career to ask a question they probably had the answer to and if they didn’t they could have got answered elsewhere.
July 20, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Is this the only opportunity to ask someone on the Ineos team? Isn’t the rest day full of chances to talk to team members? The point is that the journalists only got publicity for asking questions at the winners press conference. They showboated at conference about the winner.
July 20, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Every other Ineos rider for a start. Do you think the carer is doping Arensman?
July 20, 2025 at 5:52 PM
Er, too simplistic. The questions were about 12 years ago. No rider on other teams are asked those questions if they win this year, and those asking those questions knew the answers. So the main question is why they asked Arensman

He knows . He constantly posted this nonsense about the Tesco CEO on twitter. And his true tax position was constantly pointed out to him. He doesn’t care. He just wants likes.

When a columnist can’t think of anything to write and just rehashes a column other columnists who can’t think of anything to write have rehashed for years. Why do editors fall for this laziness?

The NFU were publicly praising the agreement last night

I drive a car and like you , I see car drivers go through red every day. So do you. The vast majority are not prosecuted. It’s rare a cyclist will injure or kill another road user.
April 30, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Our town has a busy main road. The pedestrian crossing is 20 meters left of the car park exit from Tesco. Every day numerous cars go through red on those lights. Every year there are several crashes when a non local driver leaving Tescos thinks all cars drivers stop on red. Let’s stop car drivers?

The priest used to do them so clumsily all you had was a smudge. This is a draughtman’s degree of precision
March 7, 2025 at 2:05 PM
It’s really difficult these days. I saw this transcript earlier and started reading it out loud to my wife as praise for Zelensky and part way through thought hang on.. this is too perfect
February 28, 2025 at 11:19 PM
This transcript is a fake Peter. Zelenskyy was ambushed and bullied and it was disgusting. But this isn’t what happened.

We were discussing this precise point today with friends who were thinking of going walking in Ireland taking their dog. I cycle a lot in North West Cork and pointed out that it’s common to see people walk their dogs in the roads though all around is countryside to which no one has access
