It makes you mostly rely on the same movement patterns that you used in HK even in combat, i find that takes away from Silksongs identity in a way that really dissapointed me towards the end

The doublejump made every plataforming scenario a straight line and also identical to hollow knight, specially once you unluck the old pogo jump

IMO it was less a problem with damage and health, my issue is that the doublejump made traversing the world very dull and monotone.
Before then every room was a small movement puzzle trying to figure out how to traverse it and later, how to traverse it as quick as possible...
