I managed to accass the article. Will read it carefully. I was taught by Drèze (statistics and general equilibrium theory) and several others at CORE ... as well as by Dupriez (mouvements économiques généraux). Barten was on my Master's thesis committee

I actually "lived" that period, arriving at the Université catholique de Louvain in 1968 (as an undergraduate) and staying there as a researcher till 1985. In the mid-70s we moved to Louvain-la-neuve

Initially, the center existed within the Catholic University of Leuven. Following its split in 1968 to form the Dutch-speaking Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the French-speaking Université catholique de Louvain, CORE moved to Louvain-la-Neuve in 1977 to join the latter.

From the history of CORE:
CORE was founded in Leuven in 1966 at the initiative of Jacques Drèze, who is considered its founding father, Anton Barten and Guy de Ghellinck. ...

Interesting that Jean Waelbroeck signs himself as Jan. I never heard him being called Jan nor did he publish as Jan.

CORE had already moved to Louvain-la-neuve as part of the transfer of the Université catholique de Louvain from Leuven to Louvain-la-neuve.

Now I understand why at some receptions I see cutlery with a spoon at one end and a fork at the other.

I was going to say that, but decided to first check whether no one else had already done so.

I have a whole collection of tweets by Jeff Wooldridge on this issue. Also), besides addressing the issue in his advanced textbook (chap 18) he comes back to it in the new 8th edition of his intro text.

Wrong. The Eastern Orthodox version states that the Holy Ghost (or Spirit) proceeds from the Father, whereas the Roman Catholic version states that the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Father and the Son. The so-called Filioque clause which is one of the doctrinal differences between the two Churches.

The story goes that he was promoted (got tenure?) on condition that he came to office with his shoes on.

Have you seen Zucman’s reply?

...This is a meaning that I have not found recorded anywhere. Typically, writings about festschrifts refer to written festschrifts, as one would expect.

It seems that the using the word Festschrift to refer to the confernce is recent. From a bmj opinion by Jeffrey Aronson "nowadays the word is much more often used, in my experience, to mean a symposium held to honour an academic, usually one who is about to retire. . ..

Yes, I mean for the conference. The word "Festschrift" refers to the volume(s) published in honour of the person, often preceded by a conference to prepare the publication

This is a recent development. I'm English speaking. Is it specifically American?
