It's not worth evaluating whether EU/UK tariffs on the US "work." There's no need to collect metrics on changes in imports, etc. The point of tariffs on the US is purely symbolic. They're a language Trump understands, a substitute for the reasoned dialogue that he does not.

It's spectacular messaging, and an Affordable Housing plan is better than no housing, but having lotteries to distribute housing, instead of just building enough, is always going to fall short of fixing the housing crisis. Still, I applaud the overall message.

I think in Tom's model, cities and states would send less cash for a ride through Washington, DC, and instead budget and spend it locally. I think this would be bad for poorer states and cities, and I used to see that as a downside, but lately I've been wondering ...

Understanding who supports this, and why, is actually important. A lot of spineless Republicans and media personalities are receiving new marching orders and falling in line. It's worth differentiating those toadies from the people honestly cheering for this, even though it was illegal.
