Question:
If public and active travel provisions are an important part of the Sheriffhall project, why was the artist not told to make damn sure they featured in this impression?

⬆️ U22s pass v. ⬇️ over-60s trips post-Covid? (UK-wide)

Budget/Election lesson; to achieve significant modal shift, tackle:
1. Car availability
2. Work patterns
3. JOURNEY TIMES
Remember: free travel doesn't help if there's no bus (operator reimbursement = 55p in the £)

Updated graph for 2025. Showing🧵:

Patronage returning to pre-Covid

There were 12.5m tram trips; some would previously be by bus, but post-phase1 research showed most tram pax were new to PT

c.120m = 'Mon-Fri peak-only bus lanes' norm?

LB expansion in E/W Lothian inflates figures

More 'we'll think about it' but no action.

OK LB uses other outlets, but there's a lot of pro-public transport accounts here.

And they have 969 followers, despite 1. never posting 2. following nobody

Oops...even more updated graph edinburghbususers.group/updated-bus-...
Showing a return to something like pre-Covid patronage, against a backdrop of U22s bus pass, more 'Lothians' services, (unknown) modal shift to tram.

(PS little evidence of 100000s of pax fleeing buses 'cos "feral youths")

That's a handy ref, thanks. It would be interesting to put that to the civil servants who wrote this to our Chairperson in 2023 😉

(shelters, RTI etc).
But 'the site is not within a transport contribution zone'; though there's £500K contributions for tram (600+m away).
Even with 4 unsheltered bus stops in walking distance, and 0 stops with RTI screens.

It tells you quite a lot about transport in Midlothian that the Council seems to think a bus bay is a good thing and posts it on Twitter.

Oh hello. One might conclude that a plan to reduce carbon emissions from transport would include a big emphasis on shifting travel from aviation and cars to public transport.
