It was indeed Box 10-D and sat above the public toilets (male) on Albert Street. However, the date of removal is wildly wrong - too early maybe by 20 years+.

Tableau from the grave is Lt. John Irving who perished in Franklin led search for NW Passage of 1845. Is buried in Dean Cemetery, Edinburgh. See more here;

I always thought the statue was in the wrong place and that Balfour and Breck had parted company at the Rest-And-Be-Thankful on Corstorphine Hill above the (now) golf course. Is it confirmed it should be at the Western Terrace junction?

Metal ring - or lug - on the Bondside at Leith Docks, Leith. It lies beside the Old East Dock,completed by 1806 but filled in by the early 1970’s.

There is a plaque on the Canongate (Royal Mile) Edinburgh around the St. John’s Pend area relating to Smollett living nearby. Sorry I don’t have a photo.

Box 22-D was latterly (late 1970’s-onwards) used by the beatman/woman as a radio box to provide their ‘hourly turn’ time. By then Box 22-D had been stripped of its phone and ‘pot book’ journal , but the Officer had to record officially where they were going to patrol, so used their radio instead.
