The Death Korps 5th Assault Battalion takes to the field! Shown here are six platoons, two tank companies, and one artillery company - about 500 infantry and 30 vehicles. 60% of the way to a full infantry company! Pics in the 🧵...

A close up of the armoured spearhead. There are Demolishers, Rogal Dorns, Leman Russes, and Malcadors A shot from behind the trenches, showing the advancing waves The infantry pouring forwards in their hundreds. A Thunderbolt fighter streaks past in the background. The advance takes place under the watchful eye of Captain Stagler, who monitors progress from the roof of his bunker.

Thanks! Yeah I must admit I haven't added crew for any of my previous IW tanks because it makes them easier to stack and store, but I'm glad I did it for these ones. Might make the tank commander into a character

It makes it the most heavily bolted tank I own - knocking the Malcador Defender off the top spot! Guess which is my favourite heavy weapon haha
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Haha one covered in mud and bits of barbed wire caught on the dozer blade... that would be epic! Notes made...

Thanks Chris! Yeah I spray paint the tracks black so I can get a good coverage nice and easily. For Iron Warriors I paint the hulk with a lot of shading and drybrushing so it means I don't have to be careful around the black tracks.

The newer Marine tanks are definitely a lot easier to put together. And that an interesting idea, never thought about using it for Guard... You've given me an idea there!

I did give a bit of a mad cackle when I put the turret on and saw the final size!

Finished building my Fellblade - it's an absolutely enormous tank, and great fun to build, didn't feel like it had many more pieces than the smaller tanks like the Spartan or Kratos - just larger! This will be joining my Iron Warriors army I think.
A built and unpainted Fellblade, sat on the desk ready for painting. It's a large tank with a dome turret housing a twin accelerator cannon. A front on view, showing the foreshortened barrels. A commander glares grimly from the top hatch, binoculars in hand. A gunner pokes out of another hatch, blazing away with a pintle mounted heavy bolter.

With a yo heave ho, and a bottle of rum - pirates! Now that the T'au are temporarily suppressed, Imperial forces in the Lysander sector return to ordinary duties. This large convoy was jumped by two pirate cruisers - although the escort was wiped out, a cruiser was destroyed and the convoy fled.
Two blade-prowed pirate cruises with black armour, stealing carefully towards their prey. The Imperial convoy dashes for the safety of an asteroid belt, while the Sword and Falchion escorts turn sharply to head off the pursuing pirates. The orderly ranks of transports burn hard for safety. The pirate cruiser destroys the last Imperial escort after a lengthy dogfight, but at least the convoy had chance to escape.

I'm really sorry to hear it mate, but he is lucky to have someone as dedicated and caring as you are

I have known people go to the bar for a pint during my shooting phase, coming back to post-it notes with the number of AP0 D1 saves they need to make next to each target unit...
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Sorry to hear that mate, hope he's feeling better soon. Here's hoping for next year's competition.

Whenever I play a game of this size I deputise a few lieutenant-generals to help me out, or else it would be a bit of a pain for my opponent!
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
If I had the space and the terrain, I'd love to set something like that up for the final photo.
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Hoping for a full company, that's going to be the target for now. I might expand it by adding an artillery company later on.
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Thanks very much! Yes it's quite a task I've taken on!

It's one of the 22" x 30" boards, I believe the entry conditions specify it must be on one of those, or a 2' x 2' board.
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Haha it's proving a lengthy project, but I'm enjoying the journey!
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Could definitely have done with some music on for added impact when the judges are viewing it!
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Definitely needs a special kind of madness to be a Guard infantry horde player!
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Haha thanks mate, it was great to get them all out and on parade for a change, I can normally only use 120 in a game...
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
It was one of those mad thoughts I dismissed, but then just kept resurfacing. Thank you very much, I'll let you know how they get on!
edpaintskrieg.bsky.social
Haha thank you, I've never entered before because I can never think of anything to do, I'm always better and rank-and-file than characters or tanks.
