PPS remember home ed is NOT school, there’s many ways to learn and most don’t include timetables, curriculums, tutors, lessons or books even (though if that’s what’s right for your kid then go for it).

Ps remember professionals often misunderstand/misrepresent home ed, so by knowing the legal stuff yourself you’ll never fall for their bull.

Only you and your child will ever know if what you’re doing is right. And as long as you’ve done your research (our website for starters) we are sure you’ll be ok.

to pick up on how your child likes to learn, what your and their goals are, and then… just when you think you’ve got it sussed, your child will need a change of style. It’s ever evolving and that’s ok. That’s what kids need.

Suddenly you’re in charge, and that’s scary (we’ve been there) but taking some time to deschool yourself and your child will give you an opportunity to get to know yourselves again,

using one or two resources isn’t usually enough to fully grasp content, as they’re designed to be top up your what’s taught in school, so do ensure you use multiple resources and sit lots of practice papers.

The parent is responsible. It is your job to ensure what they’re learning is correct for the exam board syllabus, correct for their ability and understanding etc.

The common theme we saw, unfortunately, was where the education was outsourced to websites and apps. Whilst these are valid methods of home educating they are not responsible for ensuring the education is suitable, nor are paid online schools.
