Just finished reading "How To Lead Nonprofits by @nickgrono.bluesky.social, CEO of The Freedom Fund. The book is a practical handbook for nonprofit leaders. Grono interprets the CEO's work through the twin lenses of purpose and impact: "Nonprofits exist to make a positive change in the world."

One of my favorite leadership quotes comes from John Mellecker: "Leadership is the creation of an environment in which others are able to self-actualize in the process of completing the job." How many CEOs measure how many leaders have been generated by the environment they've fostered?

He lived out his faith through love and service by pursuing peace worldwide, teaching Sunday school, and building 4,447 homes with Habitat for Humanity.

Pastors are not therapists.

Pastors need therapists.

Pastors can provide encouragement, empathy, spiritual guidance and much more, but we cannot provide therapy.

Just like we shouldn't pretend to be medical doctors, we shouldn't pretend to be mental health professionals.
