It's called supply and demand. No demand, no drug runners. Look at how well prohibition worked for alcohol until we just accepted that people are going to drink, legalized it, and taxed it. Pretty much stops the illegal trade. Alcohol is the 3rd leading cause of preventable death in the U.S.

When someone gifts me their old computer and wants the hard drive wiped, I just install Linux on it, but if I want to use multiple computers without having to install a bunch of programs, I just boot my system from the USB drive, no need to install anything. The system I use runs in RAM.

I get free old computers from family and friends, and put Linux on them. Fast, secure, and a lot more fun than struggling with Windoz! Phones? Had to retire my Nokia 3G flip (over 10 years old) because they phased out 3G here, now have inferior coverage with 4G. Not an improvement!

If she is an experienced rider, she doesn't look like one in this photo. Strange hand position indeed.

Lots of things you could do with a rotary phone, including dialing with the "hang up" button when a business took the dial off to block outgoing calls. You could push the button down rapidly the requisite number of times for each number required. Worked like a charm!

Or get a battery tender if you aren't driving enough. I have one for my ICE car because it only gets used when I go out of town. My Leaf is great for local but doesn't have the range. FWIW, the Leaf starts no problem on the coldest days and gives me heat faster than my Subaru.

True. I had to replace the 12 volt in my Nissan Leaf with a decent battery and it's been fine ever since. That said, 12 volt batteries in most cars these days take a beating with all the electronics draining them when they are parked.Used to get years more from a battery. (15 with my Hyundai!)

I think it's amusing that many of the people on this thread who are against Chinese EVs are likely posting with Chinese made smart phones, but whatever...

I know the feeling. Been there and for me it doesn't get easier.

I doubt that spoofing GPS is going to work if whoever is tracking you is using tower triangulation.

"If you aren't willing to have someplace you went shouted from the rooftops, leave the devices at home."

Or take them with you in a Faraday bag. That way, if you need it you have it, but it can't be tracked as long as it is in the bag.

It's called "know your enemy". Doesn't mean you agree with someone, just that you want to understand where they are coming from so you can plan accordingly.

Alberta wants to be MAGA north. OTOH, the fastest way to get kids to read a book is to tell them they can't! Unintended consequences is a bitch...

When I was a young child I was taught to always handle a weapon like it was loaded. Too bad they don't teach that in the military!

That is the most effective strategy. Keeps people safe and humiliates the guy who wants big crowds.

What, you want it to rain on his parade? /s
June 10, 2025 at 5:37 PM
The best protest you could possibly have is if nobody showed up to watch his parade.
