This and your San Francisco atlas are so beautiful and inspiring. Your NYC atlas prompted my 27yo niece, who turns out to be a born New Yorker despite a lifetime in the Pacific NW, to pick neighborhoods at random and explore them with your book in hand. Thank you.

Your money also goes to support those reporters David praises in his post. But I get not wanting to support the Times Editorial Board. Have you looked at any of the smaller, new media outlets like Publicola? Money given to them makes a real difference.

I love that about her.

YES! So underrated and underappreciated.

Me too. Mostly though my reaction is curiosity: were you asking for recommendations? I mean, I know you've been around long enough to know that that's what you would get, but was that your goal?

Where, please? At least city?

Ouch, rookie mistake to clean house right away rather than waiting a couple-three months to see what's actually happening and why...

Not for the first time, I realize I wanna take your class(es).

My neighborhood is thick with LFLs, and I'm fairly certain none of their people "buy books to keep them stocked." But I'll ask!

Books We Love always makes me think of Petra Mayer. She must have been awesome to have as a friend. Here's to her and you and all the ways you both make the world more delightful.

Guarantee that there are half a dozen junior faculty and dissertation-writing grass students who can fulfill those teaching obligations just fine.

It's a joke. The pitchbot has a recurring bit where disgraced politicians, esp Dems, go to the IOP. It's funny cuz it's true 🙄

Hi, still happy to help--pls see text.

I appreciate your work and hope you get a strong editor and lead. That said, given NYT's egregious behavior at other levels of mgmt, my other hope is that you and said editor nestle in at ProPublica or a scrappy startup that you'll be proud of even if they can't pay you what you're worth.

Reaching out to you thru John T. (having venmo trouble and don't want to troubleshoot over a 3rd party platform, even one that's not the personification of evil). Hope to connect tomorrow!

Hi, so sorry about the challenges you're having. Can you please confirm whether the Venmo link for Keisha Flores is the correct target for the Everfolly family fundraiser? Thanks!

Good lord, if Sheryl Sandberg ever had a chance at being a decent human being, spending a few formative post college years in the Summers circle took care of that. Stockholm syndrome, econ style.
