Sorted. You and other PDF backers who did not close their pledgemanager accounts, can’t see their receipts. I have now manually closed your accounts.

Friend of the show @raldanash.bsky.social has created a short how to video on downloading and installing the Tales of the Old West core module youtu.be/mf8LQdUPsf4?...

KS backers are getting it for free right now but as soon as it’s approved for retail it will be available to the general public.

(We also got the briefest of mentions, in a caption, in the @tabletopscot.bsky.social write-up) 😊

What IS hot, TabletopGaming magazine? (And while I am here let’s just celebrate that we can buy an independent tabletop gaming magazine on the high street). Oh look, #TalesoftheOldWest gets a mention in the Western themed Indie Roundup. That’s cool 😎
A spread from Tabletop Gaming magazine with the headlines What’s Hot on one page and Indie Roundup on the other An illustration of the cover image of our QuickShot with the text “If you want your westerns to bend more towards the realistic and historical with the same grittiness as Dust Devils, then Tales of the Old West is worth a look. This is from publisher Effekt and utilises the Year Zero engine that has been so popular in all of Free League's RPGs over the years. It promises an uncompromised view of the Old West, where the monsters are other people and the land is dangerous. You can try it for free with the quickstart rules on DrivethruRPG.

Electric car mate, that’s what you need. Last year my train was cancelled and I drove into work. Even in traffic jams (especially in traffic jams!) the auto cruise control combined with the smooth and silent motor plus the insane low fuel cost makes it so relaxing. Not used the train since.

Not everyone’s learning preference is reading a scroll of text. So we included a short video that was NOT just an atmospheric trailer and encouraged people to download our QuickDraw rules and adventure, and published further videos on each aspect of the game too, all on our home page.

Then a broad brush contents of the book section, and a section n what mechanics we had added to the Year Zero Engine.
And importantly given the contentious subject matter, a note on our approach to those aspects of the history.
Plus of course team bios and stretch goals etc. But that’s not all 3/?

We also had a paragraph explaining the theme of the game (old west) and that it was based on the year zero engine. A short intro to us as new creators.

Then a longer section, 5 paragraphs exploring the theme in more depth and key concepts like Faith, Community and the characters’ Bug Dream 2/?

It’s an interesting challenge. We did our first campaign last year and worked really hard on the campaign page text. And we in their should have had it easy, because ours was a year zero engine game. So the gameplay is like other games. We included: a “blurb” that we might put on the back cover; 1/?

Another reason behind the trend of is the ability to have more flexible typography and design. We were advised to do everything in graphics last year, but I prefer to use a site’s text options. Graphics can be less accessible.

Great to hear Jolene and Saul Morales on Gaming Perspectives talking about #TalesoftheOldWest as a non-violent game (because of reluctance to start a fight of course). Both times he ran the adventure in the core book, it was resolved without a shot being fired.

Episode 327: Running Non-Violent RPGs, Gaming Perspectives with Saul and Jolene — GamingPerspectives
Jolene was looking at the different types of games she has played in. Though she likes tactical combat games. She loves Shadowrun 5th edition and D&D for example, she also likes mysteries, dramas, and...

Lots of Carroll discussion there. My favourite community of those years.
effektpodcast.org
Obviously later on, but were you a member of Barbelith?

Indeed I would be surprised if Morrison had asked Carroll if that good use it. (Sorry for the incorrect “he” in previous post)
effektpodcast.org
I think it’s very likely that Morrison said “like the picture in Carroll’s Psychonaut”, given he recommended Carroll’s books to his readers. And I have bought enough of them to make it worthwhile.
