From state park passes to Costco favorites, local treats, and simple gift bags from neighborhood grocers, there are so many thoughtful, affordable ideas that don’t rely on Amazon or other companies with harmful political or labor practices.

This month’s call to action is to move money away from corporations that enable the Trump administration and support companies that do NOT enable the Trump administration.

This is #activism for busy people- the kind that fits into your life, not the other way around.
Share this post with a friend who wants to shop more intentionally this year.
Small shifts add up. 💙

Shop directly from brands. Visit local bookstores, craft fairs, and boutiques. Check Costco, independent retailers, and secondhand shops before defaulting to Amazon. Support makers on Etsy or small online storefronts.
Even swapping one or two gifts this season makes a difference.
December 11, 2025 at 2:25 AM
Amazon’s size and business practices impact workers, small businesses, local economies, and the environment. Redirecting even some of your holiday shopping helps support companies that treat employees fairly, pay better wages, and strengthen the communities we actually live in. Where to start →

Holiday season is the biggest shopping month of the year — which also makes it one of the easiest times to practice everyday activism.

This month’s call to action is simple: minimize your reliance on Amazon.
Not perfectly. Not forever. Just intentionally.

If you want to help friends and family #avoidamazon too, share this post, and discuss with your gift giving group that you want a "shop small" approach to your gift giving this year.
December 6, 2025 at 4:40 AM
The good news? There are so many easy alternatives: homemade gifts, thrifted treasures, experiences, local shops, and even “from home” gifts you already have.
December 6, 2025 at 4:40 AM
One of the easiest ways to fight the Trump administration this holiday season is to avoid Amazon.

Shifting even a LITTLE of your shopping away from the companies that empower Trump will make a BIG difference.

If you’re new here, this is what The Efficient Activist is all about: one hour of focused activism each month that adds up to real impact.

These races were part of previous months homework: writing letters and postcards to Democratic voters in PA, NJ, and VA. Those reminders to vote WORKED. Letter-writing campaigns are proven to boost turnout, and you helped protect courts, governorships, and voting rights in three key states.

We have big wins to celebrate — and YOUR activism helped make them happen.
#Pennsylvania kept all three Democratic Supreme Court justices.
#NewJersey elected #Democrat Mikie Sherrill as governor.
#Virginia elected Democrat Abigail Spanberger as the state’s first woman governor.

Our organization costs about $1,000/month to run, and we’re low on funds. Your donations help pay for our letter writing campaigns, platform fees, and our small (but mighty!) team that keeps activism efficient.

The Efficient Activist is growing — and we need your help.

Thank you to everyone who joined our October call to action and helped pass Proposition 50. Your texts, calls, and votes made a real impact.

SCRIPT: "Hi, I am calling about the appropriations bill that will soon reach the house. As a constituent I am urging you not to vote on its passage unless amendments are made to restore the Medicaid and SNAP benefits cut in the big beautiful bill as well as an extension on the ACA tax credits."
November 13, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Please call all three of your representatives and tell them to VOTE NO on any appropriations bill that does not include a reversal of the extreme cuts to medicaid, SNAP, and an extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits.

Call your senators first...
