Very like JK Rowling telling us how to pronounce Hermione in Book4 of HP.

So this smacks.of just being cheap as fuck and using a big standard chatgpt account. Surely if an LLM was trained solely on case law it would not make shit up.

Hmm perhaps I have a new tech start-up and I'm looking for investors.

I dont want spoilers disguised as a synopsis on the back of the book use the space to elaborate on the cover artwork.

I judge my books by their covers thank you very much.

Audiobooks are good when you are doing something else, like walking, commuting, going to the gym, doing the dishes. I often have an actual book and an audiobook on the go at the same time.

I dont know where this is from, but by god it feels like it could be written by Sir Terry Pratchett, and from his book Jingo. It's a got something of the Patrician about it.

That's because it's close geographically. Thinking a out it if you called a manc a Scouser, or vise versa,.it would be seen as an insult
January 4, 2026 at 5:06 PM
No it wouldn't be. If you called someone from Norfolk or Cornwall a Scouser they would think you were stupid, it wouldn't be perceived as an insult.
January 4, 2026 at 4:50 PM
Scouser isn't a slur. I won't speak on behalf of Scots as to whether Jock is one.

I hope I didnt cause offence, I know writing is hard and getting published is harder. But if you are the creator of your art I would expect the author to do what you do before releasing it.

Wow, I have found the odd 1 here and there but to find one in every traditionally published book you have read, either men's you haven't read many books, you are wrong and they are correct, or you have just had the most incredible run of bad luck of all readers ever.

What a beautiful gift to give
December 22, 2025 at 4:45 PM
I dont mind formatting. It's the lack of proofreading that breaks my immersion. Spelling mistakes or autocorrects turn me right off the entire book. I can forgive the odd 1, but when you see them every few chapters it feels like the author didn't care and then I think I project that onto the story

There are also some graphic novel versions, Small goods is probably my favourite adaptation. And they have also recently released some excellent news audiobook versions of the series. I like to listen to these to get that 'first time' feeling again as they give a slightly different experience
December 22, 2025 at 3:11 PM
No. If you read them all in one year you will regret not having any left to read. Pace yourself. There is no catch up required, no final volume to cone. Savour his books. They are worth savouring.

There are many ways to read the discworld series but this is as good a guide as any.
