Yeah same situation here basically, i think you can go private but i saw a quote that was about £500 and generally its only for over 50s :/

Anyways I hope this was helpful, if you ever have weird pain that feels like a muscle strain, unexplained itching, numbness or nerve pain, and then a mystery rash, get to a doctor asap 😬 and hopefully your case will be on the milder side like mine seems to be.

It hurts to walk, it hurts when my clothes touch it, I get random shooting nerve pain, and tonight my right leg is aching alongside everything else. Could be weeks or months before I am 100% better. I can’t imagine how painful full-blown shingles must be.

About a week later a rash suddenly appeared on my back near the site of the initial pain and that’s when it clicked. Got medicine within the hour. Thankfully my experience hasn’t been too bad yet, and no doubt catching it early has helped, but it certainly hasn’t been pleasant either.

Then came the itching, mostly on the front of my torso, same side as the pain. Along with that I felt like I was kind of numb in that area too, I would scratch the itch but also couldn’t really feel it at the same time. I thought it was something to do with the mystery injury, perhaps healing (🤡)

Initially I thought I had some sort of muscle injury (or worse). I remember lying in bed googling stuff like “lower back stabbing pains right side” and for a few days after I had a sore back like I had twisted it.
