Money. That's how capitalism works.

Another problem was people like me. Was trying to find Bad Bunny. Don't have Peacock. Saw a live stream half time show and clicked without thinking. Couldn't leave fast enough, but counted as a viewer.

Think Wally from Dilbert. Hard to be fired when they can't afford to get rid of even the most marginal worker. (Disclaimer - Scott Adams was a d*ck, but Dilbert sometimes nailed it.)

Competence and decency. That's all we ask for.

One reason for the debate is a**holes (Netanyahu) want to couple legitimate responses to genocide in Gaza - recognition of Palestinian nationhood - as encouraging attacks. Antisemitism is not a legitimate response to Israel's genocide, but Israel (and many Jews) also refuses to decouple the two.

The whole essay is premised on the idea that if Trump calls something a success then it is. The author thinks the Gaza ceasefire is going great, the Ukraine/Russia negotiations are sure to yield results, and (I couldn't so this last is an assumption) Venezuela is likely to be "free" any day now.

The truth is that Democrats are not going to be satisfied any longer with that and the assumptions of the political and financial class have not factored that into their calculations. It's no longer "heads I win, tales at least I don't lose". Think prosecutions, taxes, judicial reform. 2/2

1. He voted for Trump in 2020. 2. He thinks Bari Weiss is a good source of news and was somehow silenced. 3. He is a Musk fanboy is my guess and states that he believed the "twitter files" which were complete BS.

How does Tom come off as anything other than a lightweight in this story?

I read that and it sounds like Tom was always shallow and selfish to some extent, but was willing to subsume that part of him for love. He just got annoyed when she called him out on it and threw back BS. She had a paradigm shift and no longer wanted to be with shallow, selfish Tom.

Some clever professor is potentially going to engineer a string of bogus complaints to get an extra sabbatical year.

I'm radicalized. The hate I have for these science deniers is at a level that I never would have imagined 10 years ago. Not even 5 years ago during the height of COVID would I have thought I could be this angry all the time because I thought reason would continue to have the upper hand.

I wish there was a way to start talking to the bros and the incels and letting them know the anarchy and fear that would result if Dems win TN-07. The "for the LOLs" crowd would come out in force. Not even 10% joking.
