Innovation does not justify a rush to roll out AI without protections. As tools of oppression evolve, our civil rights protections must evolve, too—and I’m standing with @maya4rights.bsky.social to make it real.

The Supreme Court, Presidency, Senate and two party system are all quite anti-democratic institutions as presently constructed.

Our institutions are not only incapable of preventing tyranny—they’re currently enabling it.

When democracy returns, we need to reform our political system.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Of these freedoms, FDR said: “That is no vision of a distant millennium. It is a definite basis for the kind of world attainable in our own time and generation. That kind of world is the very antithesis of the so-called new order of tyranny, which dictators seek to create with the crash of a bomb.”

Something tells me, tho, that there are more than a few Trump voters who are either in the military or have people they care about in the military who are thinking right now "wait a minute, why is my friend/loved one possibly going to be asked to risk their life to do regime change in Venezuela?"

I know it's pointless to point out MAGA hypocrisy, but it really is stunning how the guy who ran in the GOP primary on the highly unorthodox message of "wars of regime change like Iraq were terrible mistakes" is now pushing us headlong into a war of regime change in Venezuela.

The last time I saw George Harrison, he was very sick, and I held his hand for 4 hours. I'd never held his hand before, ever. This is not what two Liverpool fellas do. He just stroked my hand with his thumb, and I thought, Ah, this is OK; this is life. It's tough, but it's lovely.” ~Paul McCartney

Homicide.

Just a couple things that some of the 1500+ January 6 defendants have been convicted of since Trump released them back onto our streets.

The GOP isn't the party of law and order.

They're the party of lawlessness and violence.
