I wish you guys would stop using VT as an excuse to not consider M4A. Bernie was not involved, and our state is too small (650k) with too old a population to make it work by ourselves but it would be very different if we did it across the country or even if some states banded together for M4A.

I’m aware, but personally even a symbolic king feels a bit icky to me. BUT still, much preferred than our current situation in the US. I am hoping we can get our act together- goodness knows, we are trying, despite our institutions failing us.

To be perfectly honest I don’t really want him either, and I don’t really get why anyone would. I just want us to be better, to be a better nation than we’ve shown ourselves to be, without a king.

Drawing my info from pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... I believe Reagan sometimes did and sometimes didn’t, for one. And then I expect there are likely times we don’t even know about. Trump also says he was not anesthetized for a colonoscopy in his 1st term to avoid the issue.

That designation of power has been done by some presidents when receiving anesthesia, but not all, and is not required by the constitution- so he wouldnt actually be required to give Vance power if he was put under while receiving a port.
