Transplanted retiree from Cali to Missouri. We are building back a Democratic party here. I taught high school for 33 years. I am passionate about books, education, writing, and human rights. I abhor bullies, racists, religion imposed on others, traitors.
Teasdale. Poetry with a whisper and a sigh.

Hawley will take the money and then whine about how it's not enough to "restore" his reputation as a "Patriot."

Morning view from the dining room window in the fall is my favorite, except for when it snows.

Our morning walk with the fog just lifting and the sun streaming through the trees!

My cousin drove from Oregon to Missouri to say thank you for the inspiration and support on his college journey way back when. Meanwhile, some high school grads haven't written their thank-you notes from May-June.

Imperial Beach, CA after a storm. The rainbows are fitting at the home town hopes to open the beach after 861 days of closing due to Tijuana sewage & the way the currents run.

We love our road trips here in Missouri, but I grew up near TIJUANA STRAITS.

Ancient Truths

Poseidon's joy.

Mankind, oblivious, smug--

Hubris crushed by waves.

This is a reminder to all the faux-GOP "Christians" busily spreading their hateful nonsensical messages for their idol, the Orange Felon, who is in every sense NOT A CHRISTIAN.

Hello, GOP. You should quit trying to sell your version of Christianity and start acting on behalf of the people you represent.

My friend posted about armadillos and their quartets of babies, which reminded me of Leda and the Swan. So here's a dose of Yeats:

Truly the first big laugh I've had in days, except those involving my dogs.

I recommend the "healthy" option of strawberry pie. Hubby loves to cook.

I just finished a nonfiction book about the 2008 catastrophe on K2 as international teams ventured to the summit. NO WAY DOWN by Graham Bowen details the preparation, the rigors, the dangers, both man-made & others the whims of nature. Most poignant to me, the Yeats' poem in the Afterword:

Ideas to improve life while being ruled by tyrants and their ignorance/cruelty.

A surprising gem of approachable poetry. Each poem carries its own meter, its own thematic ideas in a sparse array of words. No head banging needed to understand or enjoy. I recommend this title to readers of every stripe and hope and dream. #RobertJW

They spew unctuous praise.
It slimes the once-sacred walls.
Still he cries, "More, more."

There are 3 in this picture: far left, a schlab. Middle a shizupoo, far right, cockerpoo. All rescues and all my heart.

'Scape photo I love: Imperial Beach, CA. I grew up here in the 1950s. Tijuana is walking distance down the beach. When I grew up, TJ's population was about 60,000. The current TJ population is about 2 million. They have not updated their sewers. My home beach is dangerously polluted.

Post a favorite 'scape picture! (landscape, cityscape, parkscape, etc.) The one I chose is my Open Road 'scape. We used to live in LA and make the commutes on the 405. All done now.
