Irish, well travelled, former techie, sometimes photographer, running a surf shop, also a fan of F1, rugby union and Olympic sports.
There was uproar in Ireland when it was suggested history would no longer be a core subject. The decision got reversed quickly. My dad told me about one serious change in the content between his day and mine, eamon devalera was revealed as much shadier when I learned about him.

I assume you've seen @joshpray.bsky.social video of trying the #Tayto sandwich .. you 2 will have to compare notes on having an #irish audience

Unfortunately, that is true in many countries, as the history taught in school is often slanted to hide the negative side of the country's "heroes." I had a few British friends who hadn't been taught anything about the irish famine and were horrified when they saw a BBC tv show about it.

I once had a telco sales dweeb come into my family biz (surf shop) and try to convince me I didn't know how broadband works. Both I & my late father have computer engineering bachelors and worked in the tech sector. There are a surprising number of techies in the surf community. Never assume.

Michael corcoran would be my favourite.. Ryle still doesn't understand the hand signals from the refs.. actually, that's true of pretty much all the TV commentators . Wish corcoran did TV commentary well as radio. Or I could get the radio commentary to be in sync with the tv
